General Mode

The following features have been added to the General foundation mode in STAAD Foundation Advanced v7.1.

Sliding and Overturning Factors

A new input table for sliding and overturning factor multiplier for each load case has been added. Multipliers from this table act in conjunction with the Sliding & Overturning factors from the job design parameters.

For Example, if the Sliding Factor for Load Case 1103 is set to 1.33, the effective sliding factor used for foundation analysis will be 1.5 x 1.33 = 1.995.

Mat Foundation Grade Beam Design

Concrete and reinforcement design for grade beams per US code mat foundations is now available. Grade beam parameters are input in the new Beam Design form (the slab parameters are input in the renamed Slab Design form).

Mat Foundation Pile Fixed / Free Head Condition

STAAD Foundation Advanced can now consider both fixed-head and pinned-head piles for mat foundations. The default rotational spring values are set similar to the vertical and lateral spring values on the Default Properties for mat foundations.

The Pile Spring Definition table is to specify rotational spring constants (in addition to translational) for individual piles.

Mat Foundations Concrete Density Input

The concrete density can now be accounted in the design self weight by specifying a value in the Mat Foundation Default Properties form.

Pile Center to Center Distance Input

The minimum spacing between pile caps can be set as a global default, in terms of pile diameters.

Dynamic Sketches for Combined Footings

Dynamic Sketches are available for British, Canadian, Australian, and Indian Code. Now the program offers:
  • To the scale plan and elevation view
  • Soil bearing contour
  • Shear diagram
  • Shear locations
  • Moment diagram

Pedestal Interaction Diagram for US Code Isolated Footing

A new dynamic graph for pedestal interaction curve is introduced for Isolated footing US code.

Pile Cap Additional Design Parameters

Additional parameters for Depth of Soil Above Footing, Depth of Water Table, and Unit Weight of Soil have been added to the Pile Cap Design Parameters form.

Octagonal Footing Surcharge Loading

A Surcharge Load option has been added to the Octagonal Footing Design Parameters form.
